Developing Future Fluent Asian Leaders Series Webinar

Organised by Center for Creative Leadership and ADP

As organizations face perhaps the greatest challenge in their history, they desperately need leaders who can lead the efforts out of the current distress. Human resource and leadership functions are scrambling to not only motivate existing leaders to deal with the immediate disruption but also develop leaders in must-have future-fluent capabilities. Pre-conceived notions or myths about ‘why,’ ‘what,’ and ‘how’ of development initiatives often slow down the pace of future-fluent leadership development in organizations.  Extraordinary focus on top leaders and classroom-based programs, or inadequate focus on getting the ‘right’ buy-ins and aligning development efforts with organization culture, can result in a lot of frustration for the leadership development functions, as their effort may fail to produce desired results.

The session, based on Developing Future Fluent Asian Leaders: Myths We Must Debunk, will reveal key myths that may be stunting returns on your leadership development efforts in Asia. It will also highlight some practical tools and tips to add more ‘punch’ to your leadership development efforts.

Myths unpacked:

1. Leadership development efforts should primarily focus on top-level executives.

2. Attending [only] leadership development course(s) will make you a better leader.

3. HR can lead and execute leadership development agenda without a top team/board buy-in.

4. Effective leadership development can happen irrespective of the organization culture
